The Hindu breaches the million barrier

I just wanted to share some good news. "The Hindu" newspaper now has more than 1 million subscribers. For all my colleagues who know nothing but "Times of India", here is a gentle introduction. It is one of the oldest surviving print dailies. It has lasted 126 years and it has seen everything from India's freedom struggle, all world wars and survived till date. By avoiding commercialization to creep in, they had to forgo lot of revenue. But they have made up for it with the loyal fan following who will vouch for the integrity and authenticity of their reports. If you are looking for some interesting news/articles either pick up Times of India or some magazines. However if you want fresh, unbiased news and opinions, you will never be disappointed with this.

Have been reading "The Hindu" for some 12 years now...But I never felt they are unbiased...they are a typical COngress- Communist newspaper. Now, if u are one of the two, then I know it wouldn't be biased..Iam niether..and opinions by definition are biased...BTW, came here from Renuka's blog...

Hi Krish,

Yep I know you, Renuka's best friend - I have passively crawled your blog before. Frankly I expected visitors to suda suda coffee> and not this one. So its a pleasant surprise. Thanks for dropping in.

I am neither a fan of congress nor the communist. To admit frankly, I hate both of them. From the editorial corner and the two half page articles which appear isnt unbiased. Its each persons opinion. But what I meant by unbiased was that they are ready to give equal space for two contradicting views on the same issues.

Also if we compare "The Hindu" with any other newspaper, I guess this is relatively more neutral.

Eventhough nowadays in Bangalore, I am sticking to Times of India, there will always be a special place in my heart for "The Hindu".

"The Hindu" is a biased bigot. Come out of your closeted Chennai mindset. Wake up to the reality. Ram is a pseudosecular pinko and he will go any lengths to stoop. I pity the poor Madrasis, who have little choice but to read The Hindu.

But being in Bangalore, my choices are no better - ToI is trash, Deccan Herald is dud, Indian Express is inane and Asian Age is another "Outlook".

I was reading Hindu till not long ago. But their recent biases beat all previous records. So had to settle for Indian Express - the logic being, if you care to read biased article, you might as well read what is favourable to you!

Now I have had two comments that suggests to look else where than "The Hindu". I havent touched Hindu for the last 2.5 years (after I left Chennai), so I shouldnt be commenting too much. Let me try Indian Express for some time. Thanks Mahesh for the suggestions.

The Hindu had been rotten. I've been reading it for the past 11 years and it has declined. Especially after Ram took over. Now-a-days its playing second fiddle to UPA.

The Hindu, as has been posted by others, is a communist rag. "The Hindu" has the most ironic name in India. I wonder why Ram doesn't have the guts to change the name to "Pravda". C.Raja Mohan was the only sane face in The Hindu. After he has left now, there is nothing but Left in The Hindu. Outrageously biased. Even Ram has admitted that he is a pinko. So why argue??

Good news is that soon TOI is starting their Chennai edition and there is respite for Chennaites.

regards,
Ashok
